Beg, Borrow, but Seal votes. In Paari Vallal’s land, generosity is a legacy! The valourous and generous King Paari is said to have left his chariot back in the forest to provide support to a struggling creeper!!!

Leaving one’s own chariot, that too for a creeper in the wild, is charitable indeed. The Dravidian parties leveraging generosity as an electoral plank may not make for great economics. But then elections aren’t won solely on the basis of your ability to provide clean governance, is it? When a King may give away his transport, why not the Queen Mother (amma) the treasury ? Decades after Kamarajar, the great Congress Leader started free mid-day meals for kids in government schools, global institutions hail it as a great scheme to be replicated in similar contexts to improve attendance in schools. Maybe, there is some wisdom in Amma’s moves as well, which eludes us. Hopefully, Queen or queer, Mother knows best!
