Currency not so current, but do the Gods note mind ?
One of the immediate beneficiaries of the demonetization move are the richer temples of India. Places like the Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh or the Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai are reporting collections in excess of their daily average. Those businessmen, politicians or officials with cash in the demonetized currency notes may be parting with their money. Their hope must be, that this black money, hidden so far, would help clean their karmic black board. The writing on this black board may long have been clear and in white. But they may wish to believe that their old notes may erase the notes made on the black board afresh. The Almighty may just look at their earlier errant ways with less gravity, if not complete Levity.
The Gods we all believe to possess ETI (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence). This would enable them to be one up on all their devotees’ sudden desperation towards donation. After all, if we did not believe them Superior to us and All-knowing, why would we venerate them as Gods. This poses a question. Will this attempt to pass on ‘worthless’ demonetized notes as weighty donations, be taken in a favourable light by the powers that be. Those very powers which we believe are awaiting to judge us.
In this very ‘illusory’ world, then, good karma may yet be elusive enough for black money to buy. Good thoughts, good deeds and good words alone may contribute to our karmic account. But stuck as we are with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, we little realize this.
In ending, the ETI (extra terrestrial intelligence) , Dev/dei (Latin for God) may just be pleased to (metaphorically) elope with our cash. How does it bother Him/Her if a fool and his money are parted. It is certain. If not in the here and now, surely in the hereafter. In all this Demon-ETI-zation and Dev-elopment with Cash, let us ensure our karma laughs its way to the cosmic bank.
